“Ford Gujarat Plant starts by 2014”

Ford India’s second plant in Sanand,Gujarat would be commissioned by 2014, A top Official said. The Plant is coming on 460 acre site.  After the Gujarat plant the total investment of ford in india would be around $ 2 billion, & half of the investment would be only in Gujarat.
Around 4,000 people are working on Sanand plant & company is pretty sure to roll out its first car from Sanand Plant by 2014.
Ford India is one of the partner companies of the 6th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit (VGS) and Ford India President & managing Director Mr. Singh would be speaking as an expert panelist at a couple of conferences.

The company plans to introduce 8 New models by 2015 & expecting by 2020 India would be the third largest Market after china & US. Ford also working on expanding its dealership network in India. Now, they have 125 outlets throughout the country which would be doubled by the end of 2013 & around 500 sales outlets by the half past decade. Mr. Singh said ” Expansion of dealerships will be focused on rural areas. We strongly believe that rather than focusing only in metro, we will go in tier-2 and 3 cities where our customers are. Instead of waiting for customers to come to us, we will go to our customers.”

Ford’s Chennai manufacturing facility has a capacity of manufacturing 2,00,000 vehicles anually & once the Sanand plant starts production, the combined capacity of the company will be of 4,40,000 cars & 6,10,000 engines anually.

“French Motorcyclist died in Dakar Rally”

A 25 years old, French Motorcycle rider in the Dakar Rally Thomas Bourgin died in a collision with Chilean Police car. The accident happened when Bourgin was travelling from Calama to the start of the seventh stage in Argentina on Friday, while the police car was coming in the opposite direction. Bourgin was founded dead on spot. He was in 68th place in the overall ranking of his first Dakar Rally.

He’s the third person to be killed in 2012 Rally, after two people who died on wednesday when their taxi got crashed with a Land Rover which was a Dakar Rally support Vehicle. Overall around 60 people died in the Dakar Rally since 1982.
